Case study: CustomBooster

Bespoke content management system for microbusiness websites.

CustomBooster wanted to offer web development, hosting and support services on a monthly subscription basis.  Their target market was time-poor microbusinesses, such as tradespeople and freelancers.

Hosting and managing many small, low-traffic websites on shared servers can quickly become a costly administrative headache.  To achieve their target price point, CustomBooster needed a smarter solution.

We designed a bespoke content management system, using document-based database MongoDB, to allow thousands of small websites to be hosted on a load balanced cluster of identical server nodes. This provides high reliability and throughput at low cost, enabling the CustomBooster team to focus on serving their customers rather than servicing their servers.

We monitored and maintained the CustomBooster servers.  This level of management is essential to ensure continuity of service: although modern server hardware is very reliable, we expect occasional hardware faults, and we also need to keep server software updated against changing security threats.
